I focused on working my shoulders as a base for my arms, and layered open and close on that. I'm hoping to use some of these prompts for my piece for Saturday's Belly Dance Brew improvisation!
Another crack at working solid arm positions without many dance movements. Also working body angles with strength and dynamics.
Inspired by classes with Aziza, I've been working with arm positions in my personal practice. Here I was trying not to flail my arms (I've been feeling they've been moving very randomly when I watch my recorded improvisations), but place them into specific dynamic positions - also trying NOT to add much else besides the lower body posture and placement.
It's been a long while since I'm improvised for a bunch of reasons. First my knees have been healing, and then, well I just haven't felt like it.
Practice has been a struggle, honestly everything has been a struggle right now.
But I managed to do it at the end of my practice today. Don't love it, but that's not the point. The point is I did it. Small steps, and tomorrow is another day.
